When your life
seems filled with restrictions
the limits of your days
walled with people
strangers
mindlessly crowding in
taking pieces of you
like time
as if they could know you
as if they could know your soul.
I would come to you
on this butterfly
and we will go
to the land
of our hearts' desire
our souls' ease
our hungers fed by love
warmed by our shared affection.
When I am shattered and broken
I would come to you
on this butterfly
and we could go
together
and
you could heal me
as we make love
on a bed of rose petals
and green moss
by the riverside.
When you are happy and full of joy
I would come to you on this butterfly
and we could ride the currents of the wind
swooping and gliding down the suns' rays
and if we want to go
to sorrows' end
below the rainbow
we will
and if we want to stay
where sunflowers are houses
and a smile can last a year and a day
we will.
When we can meet
when we can touch
I will come to you
on this butterfly
and together
we will go
on an adventure
never seen before
weaving our separate paths
into wondrous webs of love
our two lives into one.
And I will come to you on this butterfly
and together we will go.
