new skin
by John P. Onorato

neon on my naked skin
images dancing before my eyes
new skin stretched across these old bones
dancing, dancing amok in the house of the sun

pulled tight as a piano wire,
making that same perfect tone
over and over again
vibrating with energy,
volts volts volts

no pastoral passion this,
rather a crawling, shaking, egglike passion
twinning, tinning
twisting, skirling
feasting, girling
new
skin ...stretched
(tight) across ...old ...bones

radio images
coming in over a tin can
backdoor to a garage band
passion sound funk

tightly wound, almost paranoid
(I'll be your scapegoat
I'll be your anything
I lay at your side
I pray at your feet)

singing with tension ... !
no one is safe
one mile blast radius
Saturn V liftoff loud
please please let me come
I'll be your scapegoat ...

neon on my naked skin...

lurid laughs...

you don't know...
