Going And Coming
by Douglas
Wallace
From the stagnant confines of my winter hovel
I step into the springshine and linger in the air
Filling my nose with the angels of the morn
In an act of contrition for my congested head
With my lungs filled and my teacup empty
I begin the journey of a thousand miles
To the sound of one foot stepping
And the harmony of two hearts beating
I come still where the heather meets the clover
Where I find you whispering my name to your hands
Wearing nothing but the clothes you have on
Poised to teach me a new way to cry
Together now we can break the laws of thermodynamics
We step into the fire that replenishes as it consumes
Licked by flames that grow as our cool lips touch
Drawn into each other in order to become one again
