Gardening

OU PLUNGE YOUR shovel deep within my soil
down, down, beneath delicate filaments
your unfailing curiousity, uprooted
you have tilled my entire garden
unearthed what I buried there
beneath layers of mulch, pebbles
wood chips, a stray marble
all this seems to amuse you
until you come upon something indefinable
lay your shovel against the fence
begin digging with your hands
obsessed with the certainty
that this is where the treasure lies
